The recent Miscellaneous Provisions Act of 2008 provides solutions to the longstanding problem of short term commercial tenancies exceeding 5 years creating entitlements to long term leases for tenants. This new act allows tenants to renounce their entitlement to long leases allowing them to stay in possession on foot of renewed short term leases.
